How do I get started?

Time to jump in!!

Getting started is mostly about understanding what the Science of Reading is, where you are in your journey and identifying one or two things to do next to build momentum.

  1. Take a Self-Assessment: Often, literacy leaders have started their journey toward building a system around the Science of Reading unofficially before ever doing so with deep intention. Copy and download the

  2. Talk about it - If you are going to include embedded social media posts and/or discussion boards, intro this here

  3. Get Background Research - If there is specific research to this step or “prerequesite” research that leaders should have obtained, you can add here.

  4. Find Experts and Working Groups - Everyone needs a coach and we link coaching, consulting and working group/community opportunities below. (This section is standard, but if you have specific consultants or groups to this, you can adjust.

Talk About It

A great place to start is the Facebook group, “Science of Reading, What I should have learned in College.” Once you join this group, you can search historical posts or post your own initial questions to a community built understanding that everyone starts their SoR journey not necessarily understanding the broader mission, but
